Product Review: Biotique Bio Myristica Spot Correcting Anti-Acne Face Pack

Here's what the blurb on Nykaa says about this product:
This spot correcting face pack treats pimples and helps control the bacteria that causes breakouts, redness and other skin irritations.

Features:
  • Effectively treats pimples and acne
  • Controls trouble causing bacteria
  • Suitable for oily and acne prone skin
  • Organically Pure & preservative free
  • Dermatologist tested for safety, no animal testing

Key Ingredients & Benefits :
Myristica is the Nutmeg spice, known for its comforting properties, but valued for centuries as an effective anti-bacterial and antiseptic agent. Treats pimples and helps control the bacteria that cause breakouts, redness and skin irritations.
This spot correcting face pack is currently available on Nykaa at an offer price of Rs. 149/-, but I bought it for  Rs. 199/- at a mall in Pune. You get 20 grams of product for Rs. 199, which is neither too cheap nor too expensive. It comes in a tub packaging, which is usual for most Biotique face creams/packs/scrubs. I have been using this almost everyday (mostly once a day, sometimes twice) for the past month or so, and I have around 2 to 3 uses left.

Does the product work? Although it claims to "treat pimples and acne", it doesn't work on active pimples. At least, it didn't work for me. But it did help a little in fading my acne scars. After using it for a little more than a month, my acne scars aren't completely gone, but I can definitely see some improvement. While I was using it, I also didn't get any new pimples (until I decided to use Bio Oil on my face, that is. You can read about that disaster here), so maybe it also helps in preventing the formation of new acne.

How does it feel on your skin? As far as texture goes, it kind of has a thick, grainy, paste like texture. It spreads pretty easily on your skin and dries quite quickly. Also, as this product is quite potent, you're supposed to only put it on the affected area - not your entire face. When I put it on, I do get a slight tingly sensation, but it doesn't hurt or burn in any way. I have really sensitive, combination type skin, and this face pack didn't cause any adverse reaction on my face. So, if it suits my skin, I feel like it will suit all skin types.

Will I buy it again? Probably not. Although it did work to a certain extent in fading my scars, I expected more from it. I will look for other spot correcting options I think.

Product Review: Globus Remedies Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid Face Wash

I usually go for face washes that are gentle on the skin like The Face Shop cleansers. So, when I came across the Globus Remedies Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid Face Wash on Nykaa, I was a bit apprehensive. To the uninitiated i.e. myself, the fact that this cleanser contains glycolic and salicylic acid may seem scary. But this has a rating of 4.5/5 on Nykaa, so I decided to give it a shot. Ingredients: The product label lists glycolic acid, salicylic acid, aloe vera extract, Vitamin E acetate & gel base as the ingredients. The percentage of acid in this cleanser is very less: 2% glycolic acid and 1% salicylic acid. I did some research (meaning that I Googled stuff for a bit) and found out that glycolic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid or AHA, can be neutralized with water if it is less than 10% in concentration. If it is greater than 10%, you will need to use a neutralizer after application of the acid. Salicylic acid, which is a beta hydroxy acid or BHA, is a bi...

DIY Shea Butter + Turmeric + Lemon Night Cream

I live in a pretty humid city, so I usually don't moisturize my face in the day (unless it feels super dry). I find that putting on cream-based products on my face while I'm out and about makes me sweat like crazy. So, the only time my face gets pampered is at night. But ever since my acne problem started a year ago, I've been having trouble finding a good night cream for my face. I have tried a couple of options but they almost always end up breaking me out. I used Nivea Soft Light Moisturiser for a while, but it caused me to break out. I used Bio Oil once (which was one of the worst skincare decisions I have made) and it made my skin erupt into a ginormous pimple. I used this Korean product called Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream, which was hailed by many blogs as an acne cure, but again it broke me out. I haven't seen any adverse effects while using Lactocalamine, but I feel like it doesn't so much moisturize my skin as mattify it. Also, I sweat a bit while us...
